15 intrepid racers turn up for round one of this years Falcon Pro series at North London, with Ian Fisher electing to run race control for the day, competitive fun was had by all.

Concours kicked the day off, judging being done by ' Team Parker, Sue and Sandy ' and this was won by Cliff Bicknell with his Pink JK Lola B98.

1 minute qualifying followed with all laps to count , and this was headed up by local ( and 3 times National Champion) Ace , Greg Harwood who managed 6 parts more in the minute than Dudley's finest Chris Thomas , who was looking for a repeat of last years win.

The rest of the A final was made up of John Ovens and Sandy Parker, both having good runs.

Now what I hear you say of ' FAST BRO ' and all roung good guy Paul H?

Well with his car not wanting to go around corners and play ball, this left Him down in the C final with a lot of work to do, but that would all change come the race.

D final saw Mick Metcalfe take an easy win to establish the pace.

C final , and now having got the problems of qually out the way , Paul H went on to post 151.11, with his Pro Class car and really make the top 2 finals think about what they were going to do.

B final and Ant Hawkes won it from Brian Bradley, but none of there times were fast enough to topple Paul.

So on to the A final, and with Greg and Chris lined up in it , with some very rapid production cars, it was going to be hard for Paul to stay on top.

And so that was the case, Greg having a flawless run to post 155.09 and take the victory by nearly 4 laps over his brother Paul, with Chris Thomas 3rd.

Next class up was f1.

1 minute all laps to count again, and this time Paul H got the better of the rest of the field by going top with his 8yr old Merlin f1 with a 12.53.

Greg was 2nd and Chris 3rd, with John O making his 2nd Afinal of the day in amongst the ' Pro's'.

With only 13 making the start of this one ( both Sue and Sandy electing not to race), the C final was run as a 5 man round robin, and that saw a good race between Mick M and Ralph P, with Mick taking a narrow victory Ralph.

Next up the B final and Cliff managed to hold off both Joe Morgans ( making his first visit to NL, and very welcome too) and Ant Hawkes to take a well deserved win and in the end place him 5th overall and very happy.

A final , and the question was would Paul hold his advantage or would Greg take his 2nd win off the day?

Going into the final section and having just come off the dreaded Blue lane, Paul had a 1 lap advantage over Greg , with Chris a further 5 laps down.

As the power came on, something in Paul's controller blew, and at that point it was game over and Greg went on to take a fortunate if not lucky win, from Paul , who managed to get another controller and hold Chris off by a lap with John in 4th.

So 2 out of 2 for Greg .

Would he make it 3?

Time would tell.

After a short break, 1/24th was up next, and new for this year was the Pro Class which on this occasion only had 2 starters, but had a lot of interest in it.

We will see how it grows over the season.

No quallifying for this class , as the results from the last class decided the order.

D final and Terry Blackmore took the win in this 3 man final ,  and set a 136.26 pace

C final and a great run by Joe Morgans saw him up the pace to 149.84 and really set the cat amonst the pigieons.

B final and Sandy got her act together to win this and pull 2 laps clear of what Joe did in the previous race, and with the A final looming, give tose guys a bit of work to do.

A final , Greg, Paul Chris and John in this , with Paul and John running Pro cars, we would see how they truly performed against some top production cars.

John fell of the pace at the start of the race as the guys in front went at it hammer and tongs!!

Not a quarter was given at the front of the field with Greg and Chris trading blows and taking the race by the scruff, with Paul just behind to pick up the pieces if they should become available,

As it turned out , Chris kept his nerve to win by 1/2 a lap over Greg who was a lap in front of Paul.

Well done to Chris and Greg taking the outright wins, and a small mention for Me who managed to win both Pro classes and make it hard for the other 2.

All in all , a good days racing and nobody went home empty handed ( many thanks to ABS for supplying some goodies).

On to the next round at Oaklands.

PINEWOOD - ROUND 5 RESULTS Raceway 81 Final Round OVERALL CHAMPIONSHIP RESULTS 2016 Pro-Am Cup SERIES

Falcon Pro has run as a series since 2008 and has evolved as a competitive, low cost series ever since. The series also produced what is now called “BSCRA Formula 2” which came about from the Falcon Pro F1 class. The series has always taken on board suggestions from the involved racers as to how the series should progress and has largely evolved from the racers wishes.

Due to rather major changes in lifestyle, occupation and circumstances over the last 18 months Andy Brown-Searle who has run the series from the start has now taken a step back in terms of the admin of the new series and handed the responsibility to a new team, namely  Paul Harwood, Ian Howard and Ant Hawkes, with Andy still web hosting via Darkside Racing and competing in events when possible. The series will still maintain the 6 race structure, ensuring that racers have time to do other stuff as well and the the series does not dominate the yearly race calendar.

Additionally due to the motor situation it was felt that the series should be renamed and also refreshed in format, while maintaining the ethics of “Low Cost Competitive Racing” and vastly simplified rules. The racers in the 2016 series have proved most helpful in regard to reviewing how things should change and so now we have a great series going forward which is not only guarantees low cost, fun and ultra competitive racing but also a more accessible management structure.

Venues have already been set for the 2016 series, however other clubs are invited to register their interest in running races in the 2017 series providing they can meet the criteria.

We are also delighted to announce that Richardsons are sponsoring the year end prizes for the new 2016 series. Please find below a initial summation of the new series which will be called the Pro-Am Cup.  This series is about Low Cost, Fun, Competitive, accessible, racing for all levels of racers and we are sure the series will attract an eve larger number of racers in this new and exiting format.
